Electrician Harlow

Terms of use

Short version: this is an information site, the prices are references rather than quotes, the legal material is general information rather than advice, and the electrician who turns up is not us. The detail below matters mainly if you are about to spend several thousand pounds on the strength of something you read here.

What this site is

Electrician Harlow is published by SEO Dons Ltd (company number 16766013) as an independent information and quote-routing service for Harlow and West Essex. We are not an electrical contractor, we do not carry out electrical work, and we hold no trade accreditation. See about this site.

Prices are references, not quotes

Every figure on this site is a market reference drawn from published UK cost guidance, and each is dated where it appears. They are there so you can tell whether a quote you have received is inside or outside the normal range. They are not offers, they are not our prices, and nobody is bound by them.

Real prices depend on things no website can see: the condition of your existing installation, access, cable routes, how many circuits you have, and whether the work is notifiable. A quote that differs from a figure here is not evidence of anything by itself.

Legal and regulatory content is general information

Pages here describe duties under the Building Regulations, the private rented sector electrical safety regulations, health and safety law and the wiring regulations. This is general information, not legal advice, and it cannot account for your circumstances.

We source these from primary sources — legislation, the regulator, the scheme operator — and say which, and we date them. But the law changes, and government guidance in this area moves and is withdrawn without notice. Two of the source URLs used to update this site in September 2026 had already been taken down. Check the primary source before acting on anything with a deadline or a penalty attached, and take proper advice where the stakes justify it.

We are not responsible for the contractor

When you submit an enquiry we pass it to electricians covering your area. That is a referral, not a recommendation, an endorsement or a warranty. Specifically:

The check we cannot do for you. Before letting anyone work on your electrical installation, search them on the Registered Competent Person Electrical register. It takes about thirty seconds and it is the single most valuable thing on this site. No referral, from us or anyone else, substitutes for it.

Do not use this site instead of an electrician

Some pages explain how to narrow down a fault — the elimination test on why an RCD keeps tripping, for instance. That is written to help you arrive at a diagnosis you can hand over, so a visit is shorter and cheaper. It is not an instruction to work on your own installation.

Do not carry out electrical work you are not competent to do. Most of the work described on this site is notifiable under Part P and must be certified. If there is any burning smell, discoloured accessory, warm socket, or an RCD that will not reset, stop and get an electrician.

External links

We link to legislation, regulators, scheme operators and network operators because they are the primary sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. Links are not endorsements of any commercial organisation.

Accuracy and corrections

We check facts against primary sources and re-check them periodically, and we would rather leave a figure out than estimate one — there are places on this site where a number is conspicuously absent for exactly that reason. We do not warrant that everything here is complete or current at the moment you read it. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, this site is provided for information and we do not accept liability for decisions taken solely on the basis of it — including reliance on a price reference, a deadline, or a statement about what the regulations require, without checking the primary source or taking advice.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Note that several pages distinguish between England, Wales and Scotland because the duties genuinely differ — the private rented sector penalty of up to £40,000 is an England figure, and Wales and Scotland operate different regimes. See the landlord inspection rules.
